"I have always had an absolute passion for teaching children – My mom was always convinced that I would be a teacher. From a very young age, I would line up all my dolls and teddies and 'teach' them – even drawing all their pictures for them and then marking them as a teacher would. Imagine my excitement when I got a baby brother and sister to include in my classroom! When I was 9 years old, my mom opened her own playschool and I spent my afternoons and school holidays 'teaching', playing and helping her with the littlies.
When my schooling ended, it was straight into the working world, where I developed and progressed through a career in the recruitment industry, completing a few related qualifications along the way. Although this really appealed to my love for helping people and seeing them happy, my passion for working with children was always niggling in the background.
In 2016, after 12 years in the recruitment industry, I took a sabbatical from the corporate world. During this time, I spent some time coaching netball at a local primary school and also found out I was pregnant with my own little one. A few months after my son was born, I re-entered the corporate world, once again in the recruitment industry.
Fast forward to 2019 and the little niggle to work with children was still there. I had been practicing yoga for a while and loved the way my regular yoga practice made me feel. After a yoga class, I felt calm, focused and it felt like the sun shone brighter. I wanted to give children the opportunity to have that same feeling.
In 2019, I completed a 100 hour Children's Teacher Training through Yoga4Kids and started Bendy Bodies, focusing on children's yoga. This year, I completed a Yoga Alliance approved 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training and have started offering adult yoga classes too.
I like to believe that I am a warm, loving, kind and caring person. I am told that I have an affinity with children.
Children are definitely my passion and I want to spend my days looking at those little faces as they explore the world in wonder, watching them learn and grow in ways that only children can.
I believe that children deserve to be loved and feel loved and that their little imaginations and complete wonderment of this big, wide world should be cherished and nurtured, while protecting them and keeping them safe."
